Calling Class of 2011!

Hey, Juniors - Class of 2011, I know you’re already envisioning your senior portraits and where you’re going to take them, what you’re going to wear, how you’ll do your hair, and the list goes on.  Well, I am also thinking about the busy senior season that is fast approaching.  So to those who book early, you can get a special gift from Monyeen Black Photography.  Book a senior session to take place before July 1 and get some goodies.  Want some extra wallets?  How about 4 sets of wallets (sets of 8, up to 4 poses = 32 wallets)?!  Sound good?  Yeah, I thought you’d think it was a good offer.  That is valued at $140.00!  Yes, you read that right, $140.00!!   How do you take advantage of the offer?  You will need to book a senior session to take place BEFORE June 30, 2010.  All session fees need to be paid in advance to hold your date.  For more information or to book your session, drop me an email.

This is even good for 2010 seniors who haven’t had their senior portraits taken.  Still want photos taken to send out custom graduation announcements?  Take advantage of this sale.  There is still time to book.

fine print:  Wallets have no monetary value.  No substitutions allowed.  Session fee and minimum print requirement must be met, in order to take advantage of this offer.  This offer is ONLY valid for seniors in the class of 2010 and 2011.

I only send out a handful of newsletters a year, so don’t worry about me mass emailing you tons of stuff.  It usually is to remind you of cut-off dates for holiday cards, graduation announcements, deadline on when you need to have portraits taken by to receive them back in time for the holidays… Oh yeah, and sales!  Sales don’t happen too often, so you will really want to receive a newsletter so you can take advantage of the sale!

So please take a minute (or 20 seconds) and fill out the new form here.

Thanks… and have a great day.

Wall Display Ideas

February 28, 2010

Clients often ask for help in displaying images, some will have a certain wall they want to display some images on, some know they want a canvas, while others really have no idea what they want to do.  In your proofing gallery (since I do all on-line proofing/ordering) I try to always put in some ideas of what you can do with some of your images.  Some of my most favorite clients let me choose and bring them the final pieces to hang up.  I love that.  This year I will also be introducing framing, for those clients who would prefer to purchase finished pieces.  I often get asked if I offer a CD of images.  I do have digital options for clients, but I much prefer to have the image displayed on your walls, that is what excites me so much, having my art on your walls.  I have clients tell me that if they only purchased digital images, they’d just go in a drawer or on the computer and they’d not ever print them.  So I hope that in offering framing it will ease the process to get those prints on your walls. Watch for details on that in the future.

This is a collage of various things I put in galleries for clients.

Backroads - Bitterwater Road

February 17, 2010

Went out driving on the backroads to see what I could find.  After recently viewing vintage photographs from my husband’s late grandfather, it was very inspiring to shoot these.

New Actions launched by MCP.

February 9, 2010

To my photographer friends: Lookie! Lookie!
MCP just launched some new actions that are so super duper easy to use just for displaying images on your website or Facebook. They’re the “Finish It” action set.
It’ll resize, add the borders, strokes, sharpen, and the final step is the choice to add your watermark/logo or you can skip that step. If the action makes it a little too big for your blog setup, there is another action you can run to resize to your preferred size.

Go check them out at MCP.

Here are a few examples:

“Round It Perfect” with stoke turned off

“Round It Circle” with a black stroke

then “Size It Smaller 550″

“Build It Color Block {Bottom}”

Kim Prochazka: Very cool! Love mcp!

You’ve seen Tessa recently on my blog when I photographed the family Christmas portraits. I was really looking forward to this mini session with Tessa to celebrate her last birthday. This is about the only time of year I’ll go hiking through a field (no snakes this time of year). And right behind their house is this field that I knew would be perfect. And perfect it was! Thankfully we both had on boots to go exploring. It was a cloudy and windy day which made for great lighting, even though it was dark clouds overhead. Little did I know how much I would laugh as she took me all around the field. Mom and Dad stayed home and let us have our time together to do the session.

I just adore Tessa’s momma Caroline. Why? Well, because Caroline gets “me” and trusts me and lets me shoot and do my thing, knowing she’ll be pleased with the results of my artwork. I LOVE THAT! That lets me be creative, to not be limited. Oh, and she loves black and white images which are my favorites to produce. Thank you, Caroline. Looking forward to visiting you soon.

Picking just a couple “sneak peeks” wasn’t really an option. So here are a handful of my faves.

Meet Brigette & Steve. We actually met up at USC for their engagement photos. I love engagement photos; so much fun during engagement sessions, making them laugh - which Brigette is quite giggly, so I didn’t have to do much.  It was so nice to hang out with you that evening.

Brigette, you are so beautiful.

Best of luck to you both.

Kimberly: These are so beautiful...I love the one where she is looking up, she has gorgeous eyes.

It has been some time since I shot this session of these beautiful sisters, but it had to be kept a secret until Christmas, since this was their father’s Christmas present.  I received a note from Mom after Christmas that Dad just loved his gift.

When the girls stepped out of the car, I was super excited.  They were dressed just perfect.  And they are beautiful.  And Mom has some great taste, ordering many canvases for her home and Dad’s office.  I look forward to a family session hopefully this summer.  Enjoy.
