Calling Class of 2011!

Hey, Juniors - Class of 2011, I know you’re already envisioning your senior portraits and where you’re going to take them, what you’re going to wear, how you’ll do your hair, and the list goes on.  Well, I am also thinking about the busy senior season that is fast approaching.  So to those who book early, you can get a special gift from Monyeen Black Photography.  Book a senior session to take place before July 1 and get some goodies.  Want some extra wallets?  How about 4 sets of wallets (sets of 8, up to 4 poses = 32 wallets)?!  Sound good?  Yeah, I thought you’d think it was a good offer.  That is valued at $140.00!  Yes, you read that right, $140.00!!   How do you take advantage of the offer?  You will need to book a senior session to take place BEFORE June 30, 2010.  All session fees need to be paid in advance to hold your date.  For more information or to book your session, drop me an email.

This is even good for 2010 seniors who haven’t had their senior portraits taken.  Still want photos taken to send out custom graduation announcements?  Take advantage of this sale.  There is still time to book.

fine print:  Wallets have no monetary value.  No substitutions allowed.  Session fee and minimum print requirement must be met, in order to take advantage of this offer.  This offer is ONLY valid for seniors in the class of 2010 and 2011.

Wow.  It seriously seems like months ago that I shot this family session with my dear friend Angela.  I am finally able to post her sneak peek.  I still have another session or two that have to wait until after 12/25 to show sneak peeks on my blogs. ;)  I have always wanted to photograph in a parking structure.  Well, in Paso, ummm, we don’t really have any.  We don’t have any high rises or a  need for a multilevel parking structure.  But one afternoon we met in San Jose to take their family photos.  Of course, little miss A is about 18 months old and has a mind of her own as to what she would like to do.  So things may not always go as you envision them (when there is a toddler involved) but you run with it and still can get some awesome shots.  *hugs*

sweet Ava has grown so much.

I will say, I have some had some wonderful clients this year and Caroline has quickly become the easiest to work with and also a friend.   love that!  You’ll be seeing lots of them over the next year as Josie hits those milestones of sitting and standing and her first birthday.  And Miss T has a birthday coming up soon too that we’re going to plan a little mini session for.  Can you believe how big J is already?  Here was her newborn session.

Rachel: Beautiful family! Love the b&w and their poses, so natural!

Desiree Hayes: These are great!

Holli: I love family portraits taken on the bed! Beautiful family!

still trying to catch up in posting images from sessions.  I have photographed the children many times, and was happy that this year mom and dad decided to do full family portraits.  When the two showed me the hats, I loved them, they go with the clothing so well.  We ran out of light that night and they came back for another mini session with just the children. fun stuff.  I have to say, I love this location. It’s right around the corner from my house.  *sigh*

  • ashley McNamara: perfect as always!

dsr: Love your posing for these, especially the first and last! Beautiful!

Desiree Hayes: LOVE LOVE LOVE these, Mo! What a cute fam too!

Holli Dunn: These are great! I especially love the 2nd family shot and the last of the kids!!

I’ve lost track at how far behind I am in posting sessions on my blog.  But the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger.  See, October  and November are just pure blurs, as sessions are taken, orders are placed, packaging is done, and orders get shipped and delivered.  It is pure craziness for photographers and labs this time of year.  Everything slows.way.down in production as everybody is overloaded with “holiday rush” as it’s called.  But only a few more Christmas cards to get designed and ordered and I can breathe and do some shopping online. :)

So you’ve seen this family many times and the boys even more often.  I have been photographing them for three years now.  In the beginning it was “are we done yet? how many more shots?”  Now, it’s more to the tune of “Monyeen, can you take pictures of us doing x, y, z?”   The boys will do pretty much whatever I ask of them and their dad is always the entertainment to get  the boys laughing.  It is some of the best memories.

The very first time I met Tracey and was coming out to photograph the boys, she showed me this very cool oak tree.  But at that first session, the lighting was too harsh and I couldn’t use it.  We’ve just never made our way back out that road again to use it.  So this year, the time of day we were photographing, I knew it would be perfect.  and it was!!

Then a nice shot of the boys…..

and as I am balancing on a tree branch…. the boys start laughing hysterically.

Watch the boys run:  a fun little slideshow

dad had put a beautiful cow pie between my legs, complete with a turkey feather.  (sorry, I didn’t think to snap a shot of it).  they boys crack me up.  I love watching them grow and documenting their life.  Most of all, I love the friendship I have with their mom.  Tracey, you’re so sweet.  Thank you for being my friend.

  • Desiree Hayes: Cute!!! So funny about the cowpie too! LOL

Tracey: Thank you so much Monyeen. I am the one who is so thankful for your friendship. From the moment we met I knew that you were someone that I would like to be great friends with and I am so greatful that we now are. You're wonderful!

Wow, the girls are growing up.  Seems like just last year B was born. She’s the cutest, sweetest little girl.  I’m so proud of your little family, Jess & Em.  So beautiful.  Loved having you down to visit and can’t wait to see you again.

  • Kristina Provinsal: Awww, what a beautiful little family!

    My “family” kinda sorta

    November 9, 2009

We met several weeks ago at Stanford University for some family shots. This is who I live with when I travel to the Bay Area for my other profession, my reporting job. 98% of the time I stay with Jeff, Sandi, & Mary. I have known Sandi for, gosh, probably about 12 or 13 years now. She’s the secretary that befriended me at one of the small law firms that I reported depositions at. Jeff is my “other husband” and always watches out for me, helps me with anything that I need. I am seriously forever grateful for all that they do for me. I love you all so dearly. I could never say thank you enough, but thank you.

This one is already ordered on a canvas for their living room.. Cannot wait to see it hanging on the walls.

and mom’s favorite image of Mary:

Michelle Kane: The warm, subdued tones are beautiful. Your images are always so clean and pure. Wonderful!!

Bobby Dean: Hi Jeff and Sandi I am Mouse's Mom and I want to thank you both very much for taking such good care of my baby when she travels to the bay area. I love these pics of your family. Mouse has such a natural talent for pictures. Totally out of the box, the first pic will really look cool in your house. Mary is very pretty, great pics of her too. Again from 1 mom to another mom, tyvm

Zoe Berkovic: These are fantastic. I love the processing on these! The closeup is my favorite!

Mindy: I love that you always get such a great variety of settings and poses Mo! But I have to tell you, your closeups are so so striking! They always draw me in- amazing!

Fola: Gorgeous capture, love the warm tones...

Jen: These are awesome. I love your use of lighting and your post processing. Beautiful work :)

corey: Gorgeous work, Monyeen - I know they must be thrilled with these! Love them all but the fourth and fifth are my favorites!

    Desiree Hayes: These are FABULOUS!

I am a bit behind in blogging.  There is a few sessions I need to get up on there, but it is holiday rush time.  When it’s holiday rush time, the first thing that I give up is Twitter, Facebook, and the blog.  But I had to post this one today, as I know many people are waiting to see the images.  This was done on two different days, due to the littlest guy not feeling too well the first time.  And let me tell you, when I went back to shoot some more, he was a totally different boy.  :)  Enjoy your sneak peek.

So almost always when I take the kids away from parents they really listen to me and I can sweet talk them into cute shots.  This one I told them that we were going to take a shot that I know Mommy will love and that if you can give me just this one, Mommy is going to be so happy.  Umm, I think they pulled it off.  Huh, Mommy?

And let me tell you, he has Mommy’s eyes.  and…

    he has Daddy’s eyes.

  • Michelle Kane: Darling family. The closeups of the boys are fantastically clear and so, so sweet!

Mindy: These are all beautiful! The closeups, however, are stunning!!!

So I am a bit behind in blog posting, but that’s what happens when busy season is in full swing. But I am getting through the back log of orders and shipments and keeping things on track.

This is the Fisher family.   I photographed the cutie blonde little girl when she was about 7 months old, my has she grown.  And she is such a sweetie.  And then I photographed her little brother - well, he was never little, even at birth.  But I wanted to talk about Lynette, the mom of this whole family.  Lynette called my home a year ago this month.  She had gotten my number from close friends and asked if I’d be willing to photograph *this family from church* who’s son was ill.  As we all know, this is the McDonald family that she was calling about.  Honestly, I cannot thank Lynette enough.  I’ve never expressed it to her, but I will now.  Lynette, your phone call honestly changed my life, changed my view on my photography, changed me and, most of all, brought me even closer to God.  Thank you.  Really!   I have been so blessed and have gained so many new friends through this whole journey I am on.  I was so happy to photograph your whole family for your birthday!  I know it was a hot day and we were all sweating …. but they’re beautiful images of your family.  Here is your sneak peek.  Much love ~ Mo

  • corey civetta: These are awesome, Monyeen! They will definitely cherish these always!

shannon: these are great. a beautiful family that you captured perfectly!

    Lynette: Thank you Mo

Mindy: Large groups can be so challenging! Of course you ROCKED it Mo! Everyone looks so great!!!

Kim Prochazka: Great job as usual! They look like a fun group!

Remember this little chunk? Well, he’s turning 2! And he’s grown. And he has lots of energy. And he’s adorable. I chased him all around the backyard but as we know, two-year-old little boys have their own agenda. We worked with it. We played. We tickled. We ran around. And we got some doggie loving too. :)  Have a wonderful weekend at Cam’s birthday party.

    Enjoy.

this makes me giggle.  he loved being upside down.

and no, he’s not giggling at me.  grandma and grandpa are behind me - he thinks they’re quite funny doing silly dances behind me. ha!

Now meet Chance & Charlie.  all I had to do for Chance was meow like a cat and he’s tilt his head back and forth with every noise.  pssst: look in his eyes.  see me standing there?!

and this image melts me.  I want some of me loving my furkids.

I always look forward to comments. Click down below to leave your thoughts.
